As per CMSA weather Protocol, for U10 to U12 Games played on Community/ Club Fields, The home Team's Club MUST update the Field Status on Their Club Website.
Field OPEN means the Game will proceed as scheduled, Field CLOSED would mean that the game is Cancelled and will be Rescheduled to a Later date.
Calgary is located very close to the Rocky Mountain. Weather in Calgary can change withing minutes. Weather all over the town are also not the same at a specific time. There could be Thunderstorm in SW but Sunny in NE at 6pm on the same day! Checking the weather is important for outdoor activities.
Weather related events like Heavy rain shower, Thunderstorm, Smoke and Air Quality Issues, Lightning and Thunder, High Wind and even snow can be part of unpredictable Calgary Summer.
As our governing body, CMSA has adopted rules and policies set by Canada and Alberta Soccer Associations to run sport activities safely. Please check the following information.
Smoke From Alberta and BC forest fires are increasingly becoming a health hazard and impediment for outdoor activities. Govt of Alberta, Canada Govt and private weather channels keeps track of the AQHI . If the Index is over 7, it is considered HIGH RISK for outdoor activities.
All games and trainings will be considered CANCELLED at that POINT.

Calgary Being located in a high altitude, it is very close to the ACTIVE WEATHER. Lightning can KILL. All Coaches and Referees MUST follow the lightning and thunder Protocol and put the SAFETY of the PLAYERS FIRST . Aly Game and or Practice MUST be Stopped and all MUST take Safe shelter .

Outdoor These games are played on community fields. Please go to the website of the home team to check for field closures.
Field status will be updated by 4:00PM on week days and 8:00AM on weekends.
Games scheduled on community (club) fields must be played unless the field is closed by the club via the club's website.
If inclement weather begins during the game, the referee will make the official call at the field if the game is to be played.
U13 – U19 Games are played on City of Calgary Fields. Check field status online HERE. Field status is updated by 4:00 P.M. on week days and at 9:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. on weekends.
Games scheduled on athletic park fields by CMSA must be played unless the field is closed by the City Parks Department via the field closure website.
Even the weather is nice for the game at the given time, the field can be extremely wet and slippery from heavy showers earlier and not suitable for safe play. Fields can be closed until the field dries out and suitable for safe play.
